Final report presented to Council

by site admin 1, over 4 years ago

Following the presentation of a Council Report outlining the results of an independent Site Development Study, Council resolved on the 26 March 2013 to further investigate options for the development of the Aquatic Centre site that does not include keeping the 50 metre pool. This will include potential partnerships and alternative funding sources.

The study looked at how the site was currently operating, collected extensive community feedback on their vision for the future of the site and also modelled potential future uses and development. View the the Warringah Aquatic Centre Site Development Strategy - Final Report  (March 2013) .

The report considered a number of options and found that:

  • The community supports an upgrade
  • The community wants a mix of different pools as well as new facilities to cater for other sports such as indoor courts
  • Continuing to fund the centre in its current configuration is not financially sustainable for Council
  • Reconfiguring or closing the 50 metre pool would allow a wider range of solutions that could make the site more financially viable.
