  • NSW Government funding boost

A funding boost from the NSW Government for Long Reef Surf Life Saving Club and beach facilities provides a large contribution to delivering this project.

Mayor Michael Regan acknowledged the funding saying “This is fantastic news. Another great example of the NSW Government and Northern Beaches Council partnering to deliver for our community.

“The Long Reef concept plans are currently on public exhibition and attracting lots of positive feedback.

“This funding will help make a big contribution so we can deliver this much needed major upgrade of the surf club and the beach facilities.”

  • Project update - April 2018

The working group together with the appointed architects convened earlier this year to further refine draft concept designs for the renewal of the Long Reef Surf Life Saving Club.

Discussions are continuing with representatives from Long Reef Surf Life Saving Club to come to an agreed position on draft concepts.

We are committed to delivering an outcome that meets the needs of the surf club and the broader community and will continue to update this page as progress continues.

  • Project update - December 2017

The Long Reef Surf Life Saving Club Working Group has worked closely with us and appointed architects, Adriano Pupilli, over the past five months to establish the functional needs and proposed design elements for the new surf club at Long Reef.

The working group will reconvene in the new year to further deliberate on the project, to establish an outcome that meets the needs of the surf club and the broader community.

Upon working group agreement on the draft concepts, we'll proceed to present the Draft Concept Designs to Council for endorsement to proceed to public exhibition.

The project timeline will be updated accordingly in the new year.

Working Group meeting notes are available in the Document Library (on the right).

  • Design Consultants appointed

We're pleased to advise that after an extensive two-stage tender process the design consultants have now been appointed to this project.

A public request for tender was advertised, being stage one of the tender, from which a shortlist of five tenderers were chosen to proceed to the second stage.

The feedback provided by the community during May and June 2017, along with the feedback from the first two working group meetings was provided to the shortlisted tenderers.

This information together with a scope of works provided by Council, enabled the design consultants to prepare a preliminary design based on their interpretation of the brief.

The appointed design consultants, Adriano Pulpilli Architects of Manly, will now work collaboratively with the working group to further develop their interpretation of the tender brief to deliver a draft concept design.

We anticipate the draft concept designs will be presented to Council for endorsement late 2017, prior to an extended engagement period commencing early 2018.
