We have received a Planning Proposal to amend Warringah Local Environmental Plan 2011 (WLEP 2011) to include ‘hotel or motel accommodation’, ‘retail premises’, and ‘residential flat buildings’ as additional permitted uses and amend the Height of Buildings Map to apply a 70 metre maximum building height limit to the site at 1-3 Rodborough Road, Frenchs Forest.

    At a meeting on 27 February, we resolved to reject the Planning Proposal lodged for 1-3 Rodborough Road Frenchs Forest and not to submit it to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment for a Gateway Determination.

    Thank you to all who provided feedback as part of Council’s non-statutory public exhibition of the Planning Proposal. Council received 134 submissions which are being reviewed together with an assessment of the Planning Proposal.

    A report recommending whether the Planning Proposal should proceed is scheduled to be reported to a Council meeting in the near future. Another update will be posted confirming the time and date of this meeting as well as instructions on how to address Council.

    A Planning Proposal was received on 30 November 2017 for 1-3 Rodborough Road, Frenchs Forest (Lot 60 DP 631410).

    The Planning Proposal would allow ‘hotel or motel accommodation’, ‘retail premises’, and ‘residential flat buildings’ as permissible uses with development consent as well as applying a 70 metre maximum building height. Should Council approve the application, it is proposed to secure additional public benefits such as 12.5% affordable housing, new pedestrian bridge and cycling paths, child care centre, and public domain works through a future Planning Agreement associated with the Planning Proposal.

    In accordance with the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979 Council is assessing the proposal to determine whether there is merit to proceed as an amendment to Warringah Local Environmental Plan 2011 (WLEP 2011).
