  • Project update - January 2018

Following the exhibition of the proposed building extension plans for South Narrabeen Surf Life Saving Club, we met with the surf club executive to discuss the results of the community engagement in August/September last year and to clarify steps required to prepare Development Application (DA) documents.

In December 2017 we provided owners consent to the South Narrabeen Surf Life Saving Club to prepare plans of a DA.

The South Narrabeen Surf Life Saving Club has submitted a DA pre-lodgement meeting request. Once the meeting has taken place, the surf club will finalise documents for review by relevant Council teams prior to the lodgement of the DA by Council anticipated in March-April 2018.

    What we heard during engagement
In summary, the majority of the submissions were supportive of the proposal, submitted by the South Narrabeen Surf Life Saving Club, to create a new training/community room and for the installation of the awning structure.

There were some concerns raised regarding possible impact on street parking and noise issues. It’s unlikely that the proposal will significantly impact on street parking as the space is already currently in use and any potential noise issues while the training room is in operation can be addressed during design development.

  • Background

The South Narrabeen Surf Life Saving Club has developed a concept plan for proposed extensions to the existing building and are now seeking owners consent to lodge a Development Application (DA).

The DA is for the enclosure of the existing north west deck to create a new training/community room and for the installation of a new awning to the eastern balcony. These works aim to improve the amenity of the building and to provide a facility suitable for education and training, and use as a community space.

Please note that this current community engagement does not include the installation of a lift which forms part of a previously approved DA and will be undertaken over the next six months.
