Licence approved

A small local café in Manly (Acai.syd) sought a five year licence for a three (3) square metres outdoor dining space on Council land adjacent to the café's premises at 5 Marine Parade, Manly.

The licence enables the business to provide outdoor seating and dining facilities to its customers.

The proposal did not authorise any overall increase in patron numbers and is subject to the payment of a licence fee. No change in operating hours was proposed.

In accordance with Section 47A of the Local Government Act 1993, we gave notice of our intention to licence the land formally known as Lot 17 Sec 1 DP 7022,

The proposal was exhibited between 14 February 2022 and 13 March 2022 and received 31 submissions.

Feedback collected during consultation revealed a high level of support for the proposal, with many respondents noting that it would enhance the ambience and be in keeping with the outdoor culture of the area. Some people also indicated that they were eager to support the local businesses in the area.

The few respondents who did not support the outdoor dining licence raised encroachment, service of alcohol, late night opening, music and littering as concerns.

The licence has now been approved and the café has commenced using the outdoor area.
