What's happening?
Community gardening is a recreational activity that contributes to the health and well-being of our community as well as providing a range of environmental, social and educational benefits.
In Dee Why, a group of local residents have requested a community garden at Arthur Reserve. It is proposed the garden be developed in 2 phases, with the plan to:
- grow food and plants
- promote sustainable lifestyles
- provide opportunities for social interaction and a place for like-minded neighbours to garden together
- promote physical activity.
We have conducted a preliminary assessment, consistent with the Community Gardens Policy, and prepared a draft Review of Environmental Factors (REF) which finds that any potential impacts will be minimal.
