Commuter Wharf upcoming works

17 October 2017

We'll be carrying out changes to the Church Point Commuter Wharf from Monday 23 October to enable construction of the permanent gangway from the new boardwalk to the wharf. This new permanent access arrangement will be from the centre of the newly constructed boardwalk.

To reduce the impact of the works on the offshore community and ensure the safety of the site an extension to the standard construction hours has been issued, with work commencing at 6am and continuing until 9pm. Every effort will be made to minimise the impact of the extended working hours, including minimising noise on site.

Access to ramp/gangway
Between 6am and 9pm on Monday 23 October and 6am to 9pm on Thursday 26 October, there will be no access to the existing ramp/gangway. Between these hours, the contractor, Ward Civil, will provide a small boat and transport people from the commuter wharf to the smaller commuter mooring provisions wharf behind Rostrevor Reserve.

We suggest, where possible, you avoid using the commuter wharf between 6am and 9pm on these days. Wharf users should also allow additional time to access the commuter wharf between Monday 23 October and Thursday 26 October, when the relocation and ramp construction will be ongoing.

Boat mooring / tie up
Boats tied up at the commuter wharf will be not be affected by the work to the gangway. However, please note that boats will not be able to be moored on the seawall side of the pontoon whilst construction is in progress.

We advise boat owners that any boats moored to the pontoon on Monday 23 October will remain moored to the pontoon whilst it is moved out four meters and re-secured, some movement may be experienced and therefore the use of fenders is recommended.

We thank you for your ongoing patience as we continue with this important project.
