Creating connections and building a stronger community
The draft Northern Beaches Community Centres Strategy, designed to guide planning and management of our community centres over the next 20 years.
The draft Strategy identifies additional shared-use facilities and the integration of existing and future community centres into ‘community hubs’ as two key recommendations.
Areas addressed include:
- current and future demand on existing facilities
- future needs of a growing, more diverse population
- need for additional floor space in key locations
- refurbishment of existing facilities
- options to establish district multipurpose community centres in Brookvale, Mona Vale, Frenchs Forest, Forestville, Warriewood, Mona Vale, Balgowlah and Manly

We anticipate the Draft Community Centre Strategy will be presented to Council for public exhibition endorsement in July 2019.
The draft Community Centre Strategy is currently being finalised and is anticipated to be presented to Council mid-2019 for endorsement to proceed to public exhibition.
Thank you again for your input and interest in the Community Centre Strategy. The team is currently working with the consultant on the information collected and drafting recommendations for inclusion in a draft strategy.
In total 649 people were consulted during the first two stages of the project including:
- 110 via a user survey
- 407 via a telephone survey
- 85 via an online public survey
- 30 through focus groups and interviews
- 17 Council officers
Additionally five pop-up information stalls were hosted in Mona Vale, Dee Why, Balgowlah, Forestville and Narrabeen.
This provided the team an opportunity to discuss the project and collect community thoughts and ideas for the Community Centre Strategy.
Thank you for your feedback.
