Council outcome
The Code of Meeting Practice (CoMP) is the framework of our Council meetings.
We asked for your feedback on the draft CoMP between 8 August and 8 September 2024, and received 9 submissions. Thank you to all who provided feedback.
A report outlining the outcomes from engagement, including a copy of all submissions received and responses to main themes, was presented to Council at its meeting on Tuesday 8 October 2024. Council made an additional minor amendment Section to 16.23, and adopted the Code of Meeting Practice.

Background
Under the Local Government Act 1993 - Section 360, councils are required to adopt a CoMP consistent with the Model CoMP within 12 months of an election of councillors.
In addition to the mandatory clauses of the Model Code, councils may include additional clauses suitable for their individual council to support the smooth administration of meetings.
In preparation for meeting the above review requirements, we reviewed our CoMP (adopted in 2022) and identified some minor changes for clarity and to enhance administration of the meeting, to be adopted in the new Council term.
The proposed changes were reported to Council at its meeting on Tuesday 30 July 2024, where Council resolved to place an amended CoMP on public exhibition to seek feedback from our community. The proposed changes are highlighted as tracked changes in the document.
