The outcomes of engagement on our Community Strategic Plan (CSP) which formed part of the Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework Review 2022, were reported to Council on Tuesday 28 June.

The report to Council noted the engagement outcomes, proposed revisions and recommended adoption of the full suite of documents. The report also highlighted proposed new fees for exhibition that had not appeared in the Fees and Charges 2022/23 booklet.

In its meeting, Council resolved to adopt the CSP.

Continuing to shape our future

The Community Strategic Plan (CSP) is everyone’s roadmap for the future of the Northern Beaches. It defines the community’s vision and sets a direction for everything we do together over the coming years to make the vision a reality.

The current CSP adopted in 2018 is under review. We have looked at community feedback obtained between 2017 and 2021 and recently tested this with the exhibition of a discussion paper.

You can find a link to the full discussion paper engagement report in the Engagement History section on this page. The report includes the outcomes of engagement, what we heard and how we've revised Community Strategic Plan 2040 (draft CSP 2040) from the feedback.

The revised draft CSP was also exhibited as part of the Integrated Planning and Reporting Review 2022 which will be reported back to Council on Tuesday 28 June.

Engagement history

We have been engaging with the community since our first CSP in 2016 when Northern Beaches Council was formed - Shape 2028.

From 2 February to 2 March 2022 we exhibited a discussion paper for community consultation. The engagement report can be found here. It outlines the outcomes of community and stakeholder engagement as part of a proposal to revise the CSP for the Northern Beaches Council.

The CSP identifies the main priorities and aspirations for the future of the local government area covering a period of at least 10 years from when the plan is endorsed. It defines the community’s long-term vision and sets a direction for what we must do to make this vision a reality.

The purpose of the engagement was to provide our community and key stakeholders with an opportunity to contribute to the revision of the plan. We wanted to understand whether the vision and outcome areas from the Northern Beaches first CSP (Shape 2028) were still relevant, to capture any changes in community sentiment and to gain further feedback and ideas from the community. We also wanted to test the longevity of the plan looking out towards 2040.

The draft aligns with other big picture plans - like Towards 2040, Move Northern Beaches and Protect. Create. Live - which all point towards 2040.

The discussion paper showed you how we plan to strive towards your vision and meet your priorities.
