Playground upgrade coming soon
Upgrading a popular playground so everyone can play
Following a positive response from the community during the engagement period, we are proceeding with the playground upgrade, with an emphasis on seeking out the best play value possible for the for the space.
The proposal was publicly exhibited between Friday 15 July and Sunday 14 August 2022. 42 submissions were received. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback.
You can veiw the Community Engagement Report here.
The upgrade will be partially funded through the NSW Department of Planning, Industry & Environment's (DPIE) Everyone Can Play grant program which supports the creation of inclusive public open spaces for adventure and play.
The project will improve accessibility and safety and inspire more social interaction for all generations. The play space theme will pay homage to the memorial nature of the park and feature natural elements and materials.
Important components of the project are an upgrade to the equipment within the playground and improved access to the public amenities.
Features of the upgrade include:
- additional inclusive playground equipment elements
- introduction of more nature-based play themes
- accessible picnic area with seating, barbeque and shelter
What happens next?
The next step is to engage a playground supplier and contractors to carry out the works, with construction planned to begin later this financial year.
