Come and check out the new play space
Forestville War Memorial (Poppy Park) Playground has now
reopened after a full renovation. The playground has new play
equipment and surfacing, and offers more inclusive play opportunities for all abilities. The play equipment and furniture feature the use of timber to reflect the established native garden setting and existing
sculptures in the park.
The upgrade includes:
- Full replacement of play equipment and safety surfacing
- Larger accessible main play structure with a spiral tube slide, a wide straight side and climbing options
- Toddler play structure with double slide
- Single point basket swing
- Standard basket swing
- High backed toddler swing and standard toddler swing
- Spring rocker
- Musical pipes
- Balancing play elements
Other features of the renovation include new furniture (picnic tables, bench seats and water drinking fountain), new gates, fresh paint and improved path access.
This district playground forms part of the recreation precinct that includes multiple sports fields, courts, skate park and a recently opened outdoor fitness area.
The upgrade was partially funded through the NSW Department of Planning, Industry & Environment's (DPIE) Everyone Can Play grant program which supports the creation of inclusive public open spaces for adventure and play.
