Project snapshot:
Overview
We're planning to install a raised shared-user crossing on Headland Road, North Curl Curl near the intersection with Harbord Road.
As part of our Safer Schools Program, we reviewed concerns raised by the community for pedestrian and bike rider safety at this location and determined that a new crossing is required to give clearer priority for pedestrians and bike riders crossing Headland Road.
The crossing will improve:
- connectivity for the existing shared path along Harbord Rd which connects Dee Why, Curl Curl Lagoon and Brookvale
- safety and accessibility to nearby schools and sports facilities, contributing to a more walkable, bike rider‑friendly neighbourhood.
Works to install the new crossing will involve:
- widening of the footpath on both sides to provide a shared path connection to the new crossing
- the addition of fencing on both corners to encourage pedestrians and bike riders to use the new crossing.
Some loss of parking spaces is necessary to accommodate the crossing.
This project will be funded by the Australian Government and NSW Government as part of the Road Safety Program.
