We are installing traffic calming measures along Cabbage Tree Road and on Pittwater Road near its intersection with Cabbage Tree Road in Bayview.

We are improving road safety based on a review of historical crash data and community input regarding motorist and pedestrian safety along Cabbage Tree Road and Pittwater Road, specifically near the intersection with Cabbage Tree Road in Bayview.
In response to concerns expressed by residents during community consultation and to enhance safety while mitigating the likelihood and severity of accidents, we have proposed additional traffic calming measures.
The recommended improvements supported by the Local Traffic Committee are:
The changes will improve the speed at which motorists travel, keep motorists within their own lane and improve overall road safety for both motorists and pedestrians.
The installation of a cycleway on either side of the proposed raised threshold on Pittwater Road near Cabbage Tree Road will facilitate safe passage for cyclists on the popular road cycling route.
Work is scheduled to start in early October and is expected to take approximately 4 weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Traffic control will be onsite to allow pedestrians and all road users to safely pass the work zone. Please drive slowly in the vicinity of the works, and obey all warning signs and directions provided by Traffic Controllers.
Whilst efforts will be deployed to minimise disruption, there will be noise generated from construction activities such as demolition, installation of formwork, and pouring of concrete.
Construction can be disruptive, and we thank you for your patience while we complete this important community project.
This project is funded through the Federal Government's Black Spot Program. The Australian Government's Black Spot program targets specific road locations where crashes have occurred by funding measures to reduce the risk and severity of further crashes occurring. The installation of the proposed measures would improve overall road safety for both motorists and pedestrians and would potentially reduce the likelihood and severity of accidents at this location.
