In 2017, Council commenced streetscape upgrades across Dee Why Town Centre to improve pedestrian access and safety as part of the Dee Why Town Centre Masterplan. As part of works completed at this time, several street trees were removed along Oaks Avenue.

Concerns have been raised by local shop owners and some residents that two London Plane Trees outside 15 Oaks Avenue, that were not removed at that time, are continually impacting on public health and safety.

Council agreed to further pruning of the trees along with increased cleansing of the immediate area, however this has not resolved the issue and we are still receiving ongoing complaints and requests to address this.

As a result, we are now exploring the option of removing the two trees. If they were to be removed, they would be replaced by a species suitable to this location.

We have not committed to any particular course of action at this point and would like your feedback prior to making a decision.
