Approved by Local Traffic Committee

We received concerns regarding a lack of availability of parking in the Manly Seniors Centre (the Centre) Carpark.

The current 8P Parking restriction has resulted in an increase in longer-term parking activity, less parking turnover and a consequent shortage of parking spaces for users of the Centre and adjacent facilities.

We reviewed the site and proposed changing the existing 8P timed parking to a “4P Timed Parking unless signposted otherwise” restriction.

We asked for your feedback on the proposal between 5 March and 19 May 2024, and received 170 responses. There was overwhelming support for the proposal. A common theme among the responses was a request for a permit system for regular users of the Centre.

You can read more about the outcomes from consultation, including all comments received, in the Community Engagement Report.

Local Traffic Committee

Following consultation with the community, we presented an amended proposal to the Local Traffic Committee on Tuesday 2 July 2024 for "4P timed parking, Authorised permit holders excepted unless signposted otherwise".

The Committee considered the proposal and the outcomes from community engagement. Further consideration was given to the requirement for turnover to ensure parking availability for users of the Seniors Centre, and the Committee resolved to change the parking restrictions to:

2P timed parking
Authorised permit holders excepted unless signposted otherwise

Restrictions will apply between 8am and 8pm every day, to all vehicles parking in the carpark with the exception of users of spaces signposted for Meals on Wheels volunteers or for disabled parking with a valid mobility permit.

The number of authorised permits will be reviewed and monitored annually.

Staff will monitor the time restriction change to 2P for six months and report to the Committee for further review.

Four-hour parking is available nearby in the Keirle Park carpark on Pittwater Road.
