The key directions are: Accessible and Liveable Places, Active Travel, Public Transport, Efficient Road Network and Smart Parking Management.

Through well-designed infrastructure for public transport, wider footpaths, safe cycling options and less vehicle dependency. The places for people approach will be integrated into transport network planning in our existing centres and integrated into our Local Environment and Development Control Plan documents. 

Improving access and amenity of our  town and village centres are key goals within the strategy. Parking will be a consideration in achieving these goals.

We will engage more on this as part of the parking plan.

We will be preparing a Northern Beaches Parking Discussion Paper to help facilitate a discussion on the future of parking management. Outcomes of this consultation will be used to develop a parking plan.

The parking plan is scheduled for release in 2019.

The parking plan will cover all aspects of parking across the Local Government Area.

Council believe to provide fast and efficient public transport for residents north of Mona Vale other options for a B-Line extension need to be explored. We will work closely with Transport for NSW on possible alternatives.

Fast and efficient public transport will be the priority, with an aim to improve travel times. 

We support clearways and extended Bus Lanes along main road corridors for an improved public transport service.

NSW Government manages major road and transport projects, including the planning of future public transport connections. The Roads and Maritime Services manage all state roads, including: Warringah Road, Mona Vale Road, Pittwater Road, Barrenjoey Road, Forestway and the Wakehurst Parkway.

Yes.  Council engaged with the state government agencies and adjoining Councils through the Move Northern Beaches Discussion Paper process to gain their feedback and discuss the impacts our strategy would have at a regional level. 

We will carry out further stakeholder engagement with these agencies during the exhibition of the draft strategy to gain support for our regional initiatives.

The draft strategy aligns with the Roads and Maritime Services Road Network plans, Transport for NSW Future Transport 2056, and the Greater Sydney Commission's North District Plan including the concept of a 30 minute city and connecting with the strategic centres within the district.

Funds will be sourced through Council’s capital works budget, and where appropriate funded through developer contributions on new development. 

This is a State Government project which we’re advocating for. The Dee Why to Chatswood connection needs to be implemented by at least 2020 in line with the completion of road network improvements in the vicinity of the new Northern Beaches Hospital.  

The timeframe on the Mona Vale to Macquarie Park connection is dependent on the Mona Vale Road upgrade and other major road projects, in adjoining Local Government Areas, being completed.  

We’ll start investigations into ferry connections during the development of our Northern Beaches Public Transport Plan in 2019.

Park and ride facilities are dedicated commuter parking facilities. A park and ride facility caters for cars and has dedicated parking for bicycles.

New park and ride facilities have not been identified as part of the strategy.  This aspect of parking would be considered as part of the Parking Plan.

Alternative options being considered are on-demand transport and feeder services which could reduce the reliance on parking at transport hubs.

No, these are still being considered and Transport for NSW who will work with us to determine the locations of the Bus Rapid Transit stops.
