Due for completion late Oct
The proposed shared path concept for Playfair Road, North Curl Curl was recently approved by Council's Local Traffic Committee.
Upgrade works have started with completion expected by late October (weather permitting).
The works include upgrading the existing footpath to a wider shared path along the eastern side of Playfair Road between Pitt Road and Abbott Road, North Curl Curl. The width of the upgraded path will vary and may be up to 2.5 metres in some sections.
Once complete, greater accessibility will be provided for our community to walk, use prams, for wheelchairs, scooters and ride a bicycle.
The project is funded through the Federal Stimulus - School Infrastructure Program to develop safer pedestrian and bicycle routes in North Curl Curl.
The work is in line with our Move Northern Beaches Transport Strategy and the Northern Beaches Bike Plan.
The concept plan was open for comment between 27 May and 24 June 2021 and received 35 comments.
The comments showed a high level of support for the upgrade, highlighting anticipated benefits for all path users. Those not supportive of the proposal raised safety concerns and questioned impact on existing trees.
