Naming proposal
What was proposed?
This proposal aimed to recognise Ronda Alterator OAM for her outstanding contribution to the local community for over 42 years by naming the Reserve located at 3 Boondah Road, Warriewood the Ronda Alterator Reserve.
This Reserve includes four multi-use sports courts, a 1/3 basketball court, an outdoor workout area, undercover picnic table, public toilets, car park, drinking station, seating, lighting and gardens. It is well used by the community for organised sports training and games as well as being very popular for casual use.
The naming proposal was consistent with Council’s Policy for the Naming of our Reserves, Facilities and Roads.
The proposal was supported by the community and adopted by Council. We lodged a proposal to Geographical Names Board of NSW (GNB) who formally approved to have the name officially assigned.

Project Background
Project Background
Council considered Notice of Motion 18/2024 on 28 May 2024 and resolved (resolution 129/24) among other things to undertake all necessary actions to propose the hard courts on Boondah Road, Warrriewood be named the Ronda Alterator OAM Netball Courts in honour of her outstanding service to the community.
The Geographical Names Board of NSW (GNB) was consulted on the naming proposal and advised that their preference is to propose the naming of the Reserve after Mrs Alterator rather than the sports courts (a facility). The proposal to name the Reserve is supported by Narrabeen Youth Club (NYC) Netball and Mrs Alterator’s family.
Community feedback
