Works commencing - Shared Path Howard Avenue

9 January 2019

As part of Council’s commitment to improving pedestrian and cyclist safety through Dee Why, we are building a new shared path connection along the northern side of Howard Avenue.

The new shared path will commence from Walter Gors Park and continue on to Dee Why Beach. This new piece of infrastructure will provide a key link connecting all path users from the town centre to the beach.

Works include

  • new kerb and gutter
  • new paved path
  • new nature strip along kerbside

New trees

As part of these works, Council will also be planting 33 new trees along the northern side of Howard Avenue. Species include Tristaniopsis laurina and Xanthostemon chrysanthus which have been selected based on their suitability as an urban street tree.

Timing of works

Works will commence on 14 January 2019. The work will be completed in stages to reduce the impact on residents, traffic and parking.

The works are expected to be complete by the end of April.
