Networking evening a success

3 July 2018

Council recognises the importance of arts and creativity to community wellbeing and has recently made significant investments in this area to progress the community’s vision of a ‘safe, inclusive and connected community that lives in balance with its extraordinary coastal and bushland environment’.

More than 200 community members participated in the networking and information sharing event at Glen Street Theatre on 16 May 2018. Musicians, painters, architects, urban designers, creatives, dancers and performers came together to enjoy an evening of jazz, energetic conversations, and to hear more about the planned Arts and Creativity Strategy, Creative Art Space, Avalon Place Plan, Mona Vale Performance Space and the Public Art Trail as well as talk to staff from our regional gallery, Manly Art Gallery and Museum, about community needs and expectations.

The event brought together a broad mix of people from different backgrounds and diverse experiences to talk about how these new exciting projects can improve and enhance the way we relate to each other and our environment on the Northern Beaches.

The conversations on the night were energetic and it was clear that there is a lot of passion for the arts across Northern Beaches and a high level of community commitment and dedication.

There will be more engagement around the Arts and Creativity Strategy, so watch this space!
