Final detailed designs for Brick Pit
Our revised design follows extensive environmental assessments which informed the design process.
We're excited to share that Brick Pit Reserve is now open.
The upgraded reserve has an elevated accessible loop boardwalk that winds through the rehabilitated landscape, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the area's natural beauty while learning about its historical significance.
The new playground features a variety of equipment including swings, slides, climbing structures, and a nature play area designed with natural materials to create an engaging and inclusive space for children of all ages and abilities.
Beyond the playground, the reserve boasts new picnic facilities, public amenities, and improved access pathways.
Funded by a grant from the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI), the project is part of the broader Frenchs Forest Town Centre plan.
The upgrade of Brick Pit Reserve will create a landmark public reserve for Frenchs Forest.
The design intention is to create an open space for local residents, future hospital staff and patients and the broader Northern Beaches community. To rehabilitate and enhance indigenous vegetation, to assist the regeneration of local flora and flora, and to provide landscape features that celebrate and interpret the Frenchs Forest area site history.
The initial concept designs were prepared based on the specific site conditions and the existing qualities of each reserve. The artists impressions and plans give you an idea of the proposed features and inclusions for Brick Pit Reserve. See the images under 'Initial concepts' to learn more.
