An updated masterplan is being prepared for the Careel Bay foreshore area.
The masterplan will address key issues for the precinct, including dinghy storage, recreation needs and protection of the foreshore. Improvements arising from the masterplan are intended for local residents, dinghy users and visitors to the area.
Suggested improvement works include:
  • Stabilising the foreshore by creation of a wall that blends into the surrounding area.
  • Creating access onto the beach and surrounding waterway
  • Infilling of land to provide space for recreation and dinghy storage, including ramp access for dinghies
  • Pedestrian access to the road and improved pedestrian safety. The masterplan will allow two-way vehicle access.
Once the masterplan is adopted by Council, work is expected to take place in two stages. Stage 1 will be the construction of a dinghy storage rack and associated landscaping through a Better Boating Program grant. The remainder of the work will be subject to future funding.
