We are working to improve road safety for everyone who walks, cycles and drives between their homes, town centres and recreation areas.
Our Northern Beaches Walking Plan and Move - Northern Beaches Transport Strategy 2038 outline several actions to help us make the roads safer for you, including building better footpath connections and calming traffic in local streets.
What's happening?
To improve connection to the existing footpath at Kambora Avenue, Davidson, we are proposing to install a pedestrian refuge near the intersection of Alt Crescent to improve safety and amenity for pedestrians, including people accessing the bus stop.
A pedestrian refuge will assist people in crossing Kambora Avenue in two stages when there is a safe break in traffic. It will provide a traffic-calming effect by narrowing the roadway, encouraging drivers to slow down.
To install a pedestrian refuge we would need to introduce no stopping restrictions on both sides of the refuge to ensure adequate visibility of and for pedestrians. This will mean a small reduction in on-street parking.
