• Background

We're upgrading Michaela Howie Playground within its existing footprint, to provide a fun and challenging play space for children. This project was scheduled for renewal as part of Council’s budget allocation.
  • What's happened

We thank you for your valuable feedback during our April-May 2023 consultation where we heard from 51 people. We incorporated your requests for engaging play experiences and more seating into the final plan.
  • What's next

The playground will be closed for refurbishment from February to May 2025. We encourage you to visit one of our other playgrounds close by:
James Meehan Reserve & Walter Gors Park.

We're transforming Michaela Howie Playground at Dee Why Beach Reserve to provide a fun and challenging play experience. Council has allocated budget for its renewal, which includes installing new play equipment, improved surfacing and additional seating areas—all within the current footprint.

The playground will be temporarily closed from February to May 2025 as we complete the refurbishment. In the meantime, we invite you to visit our other playgrounds at James Meehan Reserve, Walter Gors Park, and The Crescent Reserve.

In April and May 2023, we sought your feedback on the concept plan and heard from 51 community members. You expressed a strong preference for a high-quality playground with engaging and dynamic play experiences and increased seating options.

We also received requests for a larger-scale upgrade. However, the current playground renewal is shaped by existing size, height, and budget constraints. Your valuable input will help inform future planning decisions, including the planned renewal of the larger playground at James Meehan Reserve.
