Foster a thriving and creative Night-Time Economy reflecting local identity
Project update
Manly is a welcoming, bustling, and creative seaside town centre that offers a mix of cultural, tourist, retail and entertainment experiences. As an iconic tourist destination, Manly is an important employment centre and a transport and recreational hub for the Northern Beaches. Manly is also the only designated late-night precinct on the Northern Beaches identified in our Local Strategic Planning Statement, Towards 2040.
Night-time economy includes all commercial activity that takes place between 6pm and 6am. This incorporates a broad range of activities including entertainment, retail, hospitality, transport, and accommodation services. The night-time economy plays a vital role in making Manly a vibrant, safe and prosperous place.
Consultation
Our Manly 24-Hour Night-Time Economy Strategy helped inform the development of our draft Place Plan, My Place: Manly.
The draft Place Plan was exhibited between 9 October and 10 December 2023. We received over 500 responses to the draft place plan, over 140 responses to the Night-Time Economy survey, plus over 120 written contributions. Thank you to all who took the time to review the plans and provide feedback, helping to ensure we get it right.
A report outlining the outcomes from engagement on the draft Place Plan will be presented to Council on Tuesday 25 June, with a recommendation to endorse the Place Plan.
Visit My Place: Manly for more information on the Council meeting.
