We undertook community consultation with residents regarding a proposal to construct a footpath on Barrenjoey Road, between Careel Head Road and Currawong Road, North Avalon.

The proposal also included a new kerb and gutter, as well as improvements to drainage and resident access, where required.

At the request of TfNSW, additional work is required to be completed on Barrenjoey Road that is outside of the initial project scope and funding that has been allocated.

As a result, we will proceed with the construction of the footpath only, with minor drainage improvements.

We will also install bollards along the edge of the roadway to provide guidance to drivers along the length of the footpath and to prevent vehicles from parking on the footpath.

We expect to commence work in May 2023 to construct the footpath and related works that have been funded.

We would like to thank the local community for your support while we undertook a detailed design and community consultation. This information accompanied our submission and resulted in a successful outcome for the community.

This new footpath forms part of the implementation of Council's 2019 Northern Beaches Walking Plan.
