Adopted by Council

North Harbour Reserve is a significant historical site and we have looked to recognise and celebrate its heritage through various aspects of the design.

Our aim is to address current issues and enhance recreational opportunities in this much-loved space, by:

  • improving accessibility and connectivity
  • protecting and enhancing the site’s open space landscape character and surrounding bushland areas
  • improving the grassed spaces and park facilities
  • ensuring it continues to cater to diverse users and activities.

At its meeting on Tuesday 23 February, Council resolved to adopt the North Harbour Reserve Landscape Plan.

The final plan is the result of collaboration with and input from the local community, including the North Harbour Reserve Community Group, and a range of external and internal stakeholders.

Thank you for your efforts.

Background

This reserve is highly valued by many for its environmental, heritage, social and scenic qualities. It is dog friendly and caters to a diverse range of active and passive recreation activities such as picnicking, walking, informal sport / fitness, children's play and more.

Draft concept designs for the landscape improvements were developed in consultation with key internal and external stakeholders, with a set of recommendations provided by the North Harbour Community Group.

Improvement works will be prioritised and staged based on:

  • community feedback
  • available funding in future Capital Works Programs
  • grant opportunities
  • alignment with other related works.

This project refines remaining actions from the 2010 North Harbour Reserve Concept Plan, in accordance with objectives from the North Harbour Reserve Plan of Management.
