Engagement Report

Dunbar Park is a Council owned reserve located at Bowling Green Lane, Avalon adjacent to the Avalon Beach RSL Club building. For close to 20 years Council has leased 417.7 square metres of community land at Dunbar Park Avalon to Avalon Beach RSL Club to use as an outdoor dining area for food and beverage with a designated smoking area.

The Dunbar Park Plan of Management (PoM) was adopted on 6 June 2011 and expressly authorises the continuation of the lease of land containing the outdoor eating area to Avalon Beach RSL Club. The lease is subject to the payment of a market lease fee, which will contribute to maintenance of Dunbar Park Reserve.

The outdoor dining lease proposal was exhibited between 5 November and 5 December 2021, during which time we received seven submissions.

Feedback indicated support for the proposed five-year lease renewal. Feedback on the proposal can be found in our Community and Stakeholder Engagement Report, available here.

In January 2022, the Avalon Beach RSL Club was granted a further five year outdoor dining lease for the use of a section of Dunbar Park Reserve, Avalon.
