What's happening?
We're proposing to install permanent bollards to provide additional protection for pedestrians by creating a physical barrier against potential vehicles coming on to the footpath. Several locations have been identified where there is high pedestrian activity along Dee Why Beachfront:
- on the corner of Oaks Avenue
- on the corner of Howard Avenue
- along The Strand between Dee Why Parade and Howard Avenue
- on the corner of Dee Why Parade.
With the permanent bollards in place, we will be able to efficiently barricade off areas during community events run by Council and other event organisers, without the difficulty or expense of installing and removing as many temporary barriers each time.
The installation of the permanent bollards will be funded as part of the NSW Government’s Vibrant Street Package.
