We notified you of a proposal to grant a 30-year lease term to Long Reef SLSC (ABN 78 012 537 376). The proposal was exhibited between Thursday 1 June and Thursday 29 June 2023, in accordance with Section 47 of the Local Government Act 1993. During this time we received 15 submissions, all in support of granting the lease. Thank you to all who provided feedback.

A report on the outcomes, including a copy of all submissions received, was presented to Council at its meeting on Tuesday 22 August 2023, where Council resolved to seek Ministerial consent to grant the proposed lease.

Background

The newly constructed Long Reef Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) was officially opened on 11 February 2023. Following construction of the clubhouse building, a lease is required that covers the new building footprint and clubhouse.

Long Reef SLSC previously held a 99-year lease with Council over the former clubhouse which had 47 years remaining. However the maximum lease term permissible under current legislation is 30 years.

We proposed to grant a 30-year lease term to Long Reef SLSC (ABN 78 012 537 376). The new lease will provide surety around the ongoing use of the premises and the ability of the club to continue delivering volunteer surf lifesaving services.

Long Reef SLSC Clubhouse refers to the clubhouse facility located at Pittwater Road, Collaroy (Part Lot 11 DP 1193189).
