Developing designs

Rowland Reserve and the surrounding area are home to boat ramps, picnic facilities, an off-leash dog exercise area, a storage area for larger boats such as outrigger canoes and dragon boats, and an amenities block.

The reserve is also home to Pittwater Sailability, providing sailing opportunities for people with a disability.

As the amenities block no longer meets community requirements or accessibility standards, we exhibited a proposal to upgrade the facilities. Features of the concept plans include a new disability changing room and a family changing room. These works are funded by the NSW Government’s Places to Swim program.

The concept plans were exhibited between Friday 19 May and Sunday 18 June 2023 - we received 32 responses.

Feedback indicated strong support for the proposal - 86% of respondents said they supported the proposal or supported it with changes. Some respondents made suggestions for other inclusions and design considerations. These will be considered in the design development stage of the project. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback.

Next steps

The next step is to procure a design consultant to develop the detailed design, followed by a procurement process to select contractors for delivery of the project. More information on Council's procurement process is available here.
