Construction complete

We have improved pedestrian safety near St Luke's Grammar School at Bayview by raising the existing pedestrian crossing on Pittwater Road. The crossing now has a low rise to reduce impact on buses and bicycles.

Water pooling issues have also been addressed by levelling the footpath and reconstructing the kerb ramps to improve drainage.

This project was delivered as part of the Federal Stimulus - School Infrastructure Program, with funding secured to support pedestrian improvements in local schools.

Engagement summary

The concept plan was exhibited for comment between 14 April and 28 May 2021 and received 21 comments, with majority support for the proposed improvements.

The key themes identified included the need for additional signage to improve safety, identification of the risk to pedestrians associated with illegal overtaking and requests to repaint faded zig zag lines.

Some out of scope improvements were also suggested and we have noted these for future consideration.
