Council outcome
Tuesday 13 August
Project snapshot
We want to make it easy and enjoyable for you to use our great places, like Avalon Beach village. So, we created a new safer space for people to hang out, shop and relax.
A number of changes were trialled from 3 April 2023 to 28 February 2024. During the trial, we ran a survey to understand what people thought of the changes, and if they would like it to become permanent.
We received 1,625 survey responses and 55 written responses (email/letter).
We presented a report on the outcomes of the trial to Council at its meeting on Tuesday 13 August, where Council resolved to maintain the installation.

Next steps
Staff will seek grant funding to enable upgrading the seating, other infrastructure and plantings in the shared space. Subject to grant funding, we will carry out a design study for completion of the project to a high quality, and in keeping with the character of Avalon Beach - the study will be placed on public exhibition for comment.
