In line with our Move - Northern Beaches Transport Strategy 2038, we are providing greater support for electric vehicles (EV) by facilitating the introduction of additional EV charging stations.
Electric vehicle charging points have proven to boost surrounding commercial activity by providing an additional use to supplement existing infrastructure.
This page is your one-stop shop to stay up to date with proposed and completed locations, frequently asked questions and related information on our EV infrastructure.

We've already installed a number of EV charging stations across the Northern Beaches. View the map to see where they are.
We asked our community for ideas and suggestions on where to install chargers in July and August 2022 - you can view the outcomes of the consultation here.
We had a great response with over 200 location ideas and suggestions added to our map. The most popular locations for more EV charging were shops, beaches, parks and carparks across the Northern Beaches.
From this information, we create shortlists and work with suppliers to select the locations that will be most suitable for each style of charger - taking into consideration things like power supply, impacts on surrounding parking, if other chargers are available nearby (e.g. in shopping centre carparks), etc. Each shortlist then goes back out to our community to let us know if we've got it right.
Following consultation on the shortlists, we present a report to the Local Traffic Committee, who makes a decision on each location.
Council will not be contributing financially towards the installation, maintenance and removal of EV infrastructure. Our proposal is only the conversion of the nominated existing parking spaces to ‘EV parking only’ to support the initiative.
JOLT has provided formal notification to Council under the Electricity Supply Act 1995 and State Environmental Planning Policy (Infrastructure) 2007 for the proposed installation of JOLT electric vehicle charging stations, with ancillary integrated advertising, on existing Ausgrid kiosk substations as outlined below.
In a world first, Ausgrid has partnered with Sydney-based electric vehicle charging network company JOLT to create a free, fast electrical vehicle (EV) charging network across Sydney. By providing free charging in multiple locations, more people will be encouraged to enter into the EV market.
Existing Ausgrid electrical facilities (known as Distribution Kiosks (DK)) will be transformed to become electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.
JOLT electric charging point will be connected to the existing Ausgrid Distribution Kiosks (DK).
Ausgrid and JOLT will be responsible for all works and costs relating to the transformation of each site to support EV charging sites.
