Funding approved

Early 2022 we consulted with you on a number of active travel projects so that your feedback could accompany our submission for funding through the Get NSW Active 2022/23 program.

We have been successful in receiving funding for three projects in total, one of which we engaged with you on:

  1. $501,000 for a shared path and pedestrian improvement in Addiscombe Road, Manly Vale to improve the connection between Kenneth Road and Campbell Parade, a local route to Mackellar Girls Campus, B-Line and sporting facilities.

We were also successful in receiving funding for two projects that we have previously engaged with our community on:

  1. $971,000 for a new footpath, kerbs, gutters and drainage along the eastern side of Barrenjoey Road, North Avalon between Careel Head Road and Currawong Avenue.
  2. $369,000 for a new footpath on the northern side of Turimetta Street, Mona Vale to complete the missing connection between Mona Vale Police Station and George Mockler House, a strategic walking connection to Mona Vale, schools and the B-Line.

We are now planning our submissions to TfNSW through the 2023/24 Get NSW Active Program and will reconsider some locations based on the requirements detailed in the funding guidelines.

Thank you for your interest in improving walking and cycling connections in your local area.

Background

Our Move – Northern Beaches Transport Strategy identifies ways we can encourage active travel to help break our reliance on cars as the main way we travel across our area.

Creating shared paths is one way we do this. Shared paths also provide recreational benefits and promote healthy lifestyles through active travel.

We are looking for opportunities to introduce more shared paths in 2022 and 2023 including building new connections and upgrading existing paths.

The projects proposed below are grant depended, which means we can only build them if we get the funding under the NSW Active Transport Grant.

We exhibited these proposals between Tuesday 25 January and Friday 18 February 2022 to seek thoughts on each proposal. Feedback is now being reviewed and will support our grant application to the state government.
